You will make a 2 sided pendant with 2 pair of earrings.

By using silk screens paints, inks, stamps and some foils you will learn how to save almost everything  even scrap clay and turn it into a thing of beauty.  If you have some clay you would like to try to re-purpose feel free to bring it along. I will supply everything. No need to pack heavy for  this class.

Julie Picarello’s Class: Lizard Tail Pods & Resin Too

In this class we’ll explore simple yet endlessly surprising Lizard Tail construction. Students will form solid or dimensional tails, shape them into pods, or collage them with strips of textured clay to create larger focal beads. Then we’ll take our tails one step further as we experiment with incorporating tinted 2-part epoxy resin and metal accents for truly one-of-a-kind creations.

Let’s do a little mixed media art.  I will show you how to incorporate metal, fibers, transfer images with some clay. We will add some  paper, fabric and other found objects to create a tag art pin or a tag art  book.

My class description is late because I had to re-watch all the seasons of Mad Men – Season 4 started last week!  In honor of my obsession, we will explore the early 1960’s Op Art movement and learn to make a survey of brooches (can’t you just hear Joan telling Roger that she’d like a brooch for Christmas!) that have visual and actual movement.  The tricks and tips to incorporate moving parts would make Don Draper proud (a wonderful moving part if I do say so myself.)  While you might choose to make only one during class, you will leave with the knowledge to make all these and more!

Op Art Brooch

In this class, students will make what Donna calls, the Sizzling Rice cane.  It looks like dancing pieces of rice (always thinking of food). Four beads will be made plus two flat disc to make earrings!  Bring earring findings and 2 long (2″) wire eye pins or wire, plus  your wire bending tools to complete the pair.  Then go win some money with these lucky ear embellishments.

In this class we will boldly go where no kaeidoscope cane has gone before.  I will take the complex out of complex caning.  Students will create a simple cane.  From this cane I will show you how to use this cane to create several complex looking canes.  You will get a 3, 4 maybe 5 for the price of one.

We will be making wearable art figures inspired by the unique individuals of Carnivals and Circuses all over the world. We all have a little “freaky side” so come, bring your imagination and memories and  join the fun of making your own Carnie or Freak. This class will is open to all levels of clayers from beginner to advanced.
