Donna Kato’s Class: ” Polka Dot Spinner Bracelet! ”

“Hi Everyone;
Michelle asked if my class was too simple.  Hmm, well after thinking about it all the simple version of this class is too simple (and would take less than 4 hours) while the full on Music Piece takes about 6 hours to complete.  Michelle was right.  So, I’m switching my class to the Polka Dot Spinner Bracelet.  Yup, the ring spins around – so, it’s a toy, too.  I think this will work out better all around.  Thanks for the question, Michelle, sometimes it takes a question to get to a better result.
Best,
D”

Lynne Ann Schwarzenberg’s Class: “Filigree/Foliage Fusion”

The simplicity of leaves and classic beauty of turn of the century style filigree come together in this beautiful piece that can be made into a pin or pendant. Students will learn to create a subtle gradient blend with polymer clay, turn it into two different leave canes, and then build a pendant using neo-classic filigree pieces from Kabela Design and finish the piece off with a Swarovski crystal. Lynne Ann will cover cane design and construction, slicing evenly, the best way to create a metal and clay fusion piece using special adhesive material, finishing without sanding (as it is nearly impossible to sand a dimensional piece), and crystal to clay fusion. This class will also concentrate on choosing the correct adhesives to make a quality piece of jewelry that will not fall apart.

Maureen Carlson’s Class: ” Dream Weaver Icons “

One definition of an icon is an image or depiction that represents something else of greater significance.  In this class you’ll create a wearable icon that represents a dream or goal.  The “secret” removable mask adds a dreamlike theatrical element.  This project has several steps, but each step is very simple.  We’ll begin with plain white clay, then add a variety of textures and a push mold face.  After baking, pendants will be colored with alcohol inks, markers and acrylic paint.  Optional beads and fibers may be added.  Specific techniques learned will be how to tweak molded faces to produce a variety of images and how to work with alcohol inks and markers on polymer clay.
